Borra Caves

Araku, Andhra Pradesh

PAID Entry 4.5/5 Nature

About This Location

Borra Caves in the Ananthagiri Hills at 705m are the largest caves in India, formed by the Gosthani River over a million years. The caves contain dramatic stalactite and stalagmite formations illuminated by coloured lights, including formations resembling the human brain, Shivalinga, and a tiger's head. The journey through the Eastern Ghats to reach the caves — passing through the scenic Araku Valley — is itself part of the experience.
