Bangalore, Karnataka
Nandi Hills (Nandidurg) at 1,478m is a rocky granite hillock 60 km north of Bangalore. On clear mornings between October and February, the plains below are covered in a thick sea of clouds, and the sunrise above them — with the Karnataka hills and Nandi Temple silhouetted — creates extraordinary 'above the clouds' photography. The 10th-century Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple complex at the base and Tippu Sultan's summer residence on the summit add heritage content.
