About This Location

Nishat Bagh, the 'Garden of Bliss,' is the largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley — 12 terraces of fountains, flowerbeds, and towering Chinar trees descending toward Dal Lake. Built in 1633 by Nur Jahan's brother, the garden's symmetry, the Zabarwan mountain behind, and Dal Lake below create layered landscape compositions. Spring brings tulips and blossoms; autumn turns the Chinars brilliant orange and gold.
