Hyderabad, Telangana
Hussain Sagar is a large artificial lake in the heart of Hyderabad, built in 1563, with a 17.5-metre monolithic statue of Lord Buddha on a rock island at its centre. The lake's 3 km promenade (Necklace Road), lit up at night, and the Buddha statue reflected in the water create distinctive Hyderabad compositions. Boat rides to the island allow close-up statue shots with the city skyline beyond.
Central Hyderabad. Multiple bus routes. Metro: Lakdi-ka-pul station (1 km walk).
